About Me

I am a teacher. A learner. A writer and dreamer.

I love color. Soft, fuzzy socks. Warm tea on a rainy day. Lots and lots of colorful, soft, inspiring yarn.

I have a double major in English (emphasis on creative writing) and math, and a Masters in Teaching.

I teach math at a high school (my 4th year teaching). I tutor math. I teach crochet classes at Michaels. I crochet everything. Always. I have worked at daycares, camps, grocery stores, state fairs, and lemonade stands.

I am married to the most wonderfully supportive and snuggly hubband (as of this moment, that's a real word) and together we dream, plot, and read about living a green, self-sustaining life. Currently we live in an apartment in a superwalmart of a city that doesn't believe in recycling.

I get ideas from children who ask me to make them toys and draw incredible designs for me to ensure i get it right. I get ideas from friends who love me and my crochet-ness and pass along ideas from etsy, pinterest, or stumbleupon. I get ideas from colors I see on the striped socks of the person three rows up and from the natural wood buttons I imagine are waiting to be carved out of a tree branch on the side of the road. (see My Inspiration page for more stories)

Mostly, (and transparently honestly) i love crocheting because it provides me a forum to do whatever i want, however i want, whenever and wherever i want. According to my parents (who are also incredibly supportive of all my dreams, and are my initial and faithful customers), when i was a child, my most common phrase was "I want Sandy do dat!" Infinitely impatient with simply watching others live life, I'm still eager to experiment, learn, dream and discover. I'm always amazed that at the energy and enthusiasm I discover when I'm knee-deep in a project of my own making, while simultaneously piles of dishes or unsorted mail lie around, molding by the minute, judging me for my laziness. Luckily I chose myself a very good hubband who doesn't judge. ... but sometimes he tickles ... :(

This is the beginning of a new adventure in my "sandydodat" story. I'm excited to see what I can do and share with you all, and hope you enjoy watching the story unfold.
